Pamela Mercado Garcia she/her/ella

Immigration and Asylum Program Associate

Pamela Mercado Garcia was born and raised in Mexico. In 2011, when she was 12 years old, she migrated to the United States. She remained undocumented until her family was granted residency in 2015 after her mother applied for adjustment of status through the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).

Pam joined NCLR as the Immigration and Asylum Program Associate in June of 2022. She is responsible for assisting the Immigration Project Director and the pro bono of Counsel Attorneys with a variety of tasks including but not limited to coalition calls, translations, communication with our clients, and other assigned duties.

Pam earned her B.S. in International Affairs from Eastern Michigan University in 2019 and her M.A. in Migration Studies from the University of San Francisco in 2022. She has worked in various nonprofits that advocate for and assist the immigrant community throughout her career. In her free time, Pam likes to take long walks and paint.
