Gwen Tillman
Board Member
Gwen brings over 15 years of nonprofit experience and more than two decades of leadership in people and culture within leading high-tech companies to the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) Board. Throughout her career, she has been passionate about creating inclusive workplaces where people can thrive and has dedicated herself to fostering diverse, equitable, and mission-driven organizations. Her leadership has helped shape high-performing teams, cultivate belonging, and drive meaningful change within both corporate and nonprofit spaces.
A lifelong advocate for social justice, community empowerment, and legal protections for marginalized communities, Gwen is honored to support NCLR’s mission to advance LGBTQ+ rights. She is excited to collaborate with fellow board members, staff, and supporters to drive meaningful change and strengthen protections for the most marginalized communities nationwide.
Gwen earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and her Master’s in Social Work from San Francisco State University. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her ability to bring people together, bridge differences, and develop impactful strategies that create lasting change. After recently retiring, she has embraced board service and volunteering as a way to honor her commitment to community and connection, bringing both heart and experience to her work.
Outside of her advocacy and leadership work, Gwen finds joy in visiting farmers markets, attending the theatre, exploring museums, cooking, and traveling. She has a knack for curating memorable meals and immersing herself in cultures and stories that deepen her understanding of the world.
